A question is still swinging in my head, "are these all TRUE?" This is, again, another heavy time that bears down on me although it may not seem to be related to my life.

Vividly still be in my memory the day when Zion delivered the sad news about Jonia and vividly still be in my memory the day when I sobbed in the funeral of Mr. Chan.Time is yet short for my memories to fade when the story seems to repeat itself for another episode; a tragedy that none likes and all sigh.

Some months ago, father and I went to the columbarium wherein my grandpa's ashes are kept. His face has been fading and the only complexion left in my mind is the one on his cinerary urn, still grinning but no longer clear. I wonder if I can still regconise him in the future when I become too old and frail.

Previously rotating in Kwong Wah Hospital, I clerked a patient with Parkinson's disease, just as my grandpa did, who in many ways was reminiscent of my grandpa; though how much different would it be were the patient truly be him.

When the news of one's demise reach my ear, time tracks back himself to the day when I last saw the face of my grandpa at the back of the funeral hall, so emaciated that barely resembled him. So much funny time and laughers burst out around my ears as time goes back more; he is holding my hands, walking from Sunday Yum-cha with grandma, sometimes he even makes jokes although he seldom smiles. (now I realised it was caused by Parkinson's disease) Recollecting all these and all in a sudden it comes to a halt; I realise myself without grandpa around and never would he be around anymore, leaving me in despair and silence.

Time keeps his own pace and has never stopped; I should well be on my feet and carry on with my steps forward.

Wednesday, June 04, 2008

Sunday, May 18, 2008

子在川上曰。逝者如斯乎。不舍晝夜。

One needs not be like Confucius to fathom the quintessence of his words, needs not be like poet Li Bai to discern the affective facade of all humane parts of life. I thought it was my heart beating too fast as if I had just finished a vigorous exercise, I only realized it was an earthquake when my sister asked me if it was shaking. It continued for around 10 minutes with an interval of about 30 sec or so between every strong shake.

I was so scared!

Friday, December 22, 2006

Exam is over at last! Back at home. I am no longer tormented by the aura of intensive study in the dormitory, at least for the coming 2 weeks of holiday. Finally, life becomes much more colourful again with all the "tidbit" back at home; I can do whatever I wish to, watching TV, idling and so on.

Yesterday night, I made a sudden decision to go to the mentorship gathering. The sharing from my mentors and other mentees has been so delightful, making me yearn for clinical years more than ever! Down in my heart, nothing at the moment is felt different from when I was still a high school student; or better say I don't feel myself a medical student at all. Probably this is due to my limited clinical exposure at the moment, just as Professor Sung said he found himself more like a doctor during his clinical year working in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department.

It has to be years before I can be a real doctor. My holidays will certainly diminish with time.

Sunday, December 17, 2006

An extraordinary day in this exam period! The first unusual thing was studying with Ray in Franklin canteen through the day from 1 pm to 7 pm. We planned to study their during lunch time, but it turned out to be a whole day study! Second unusual thing was coincidentally meeting KTMC teachers in the very place! Lau Lin Fung, Tam Chi Pui and his family, Mrs. Man, Wong Mui Yung and so many others! Had a short chat with them and knew that they were on the PTA's first trip of this year, I bet they must be very exuberant as hinted on their unanimously jaunty complexions. I, too, was delighted to see them in this yet another new place of study; after all, to be parted from KTMC for 2 years is not a short time, and things have changed so much for me but seem to be more or less unchanged for them. The only thing I am sure at this moment is my life will not be changing for the coming 5 years, yet the other side of the coin is to live without any more refreshment. Stability and Mobility are always compromised.
